Friendship Greeting with Pink Kisses® in a Homemade Flowerpot
Maybe you haven’t seen your best friend for a while and would like to send her a little gift? Then we have just the right DIY gift idea for you! It’s easy to upcycle an old tin can and turn it into a great flowerpot. This is how you can put your Pink Kisses® into a fancy outfit.
What You Need
List
- Pink Kisses® mini carnation in a pot
- An old tin can of a suitable size
- Several different types of patterned paper
- Scissors
- Double-sided tape
- Coloured wool
- Sellotape
- A photo (e.g. of you and your best friend)
- A wooden stick
Prepare the Tin Can
Instructions
First of all, you need an old tin can. Clean it and remove the label and all glue residue from the outside. Normally, it is enough to soak the can and the adhesive residue in warm rinsing water and then remove them, but sometimes the glue is quite stubborn. In this case, apply a little vinegar to a cloth and use it to loosen the glue residue. Afterwards, don’t forget to wipe off the vinegar residue.
Designing the Tin
Instructions
Now it’s time to choose the paper you want to use to design the tin. Maybe you have one that connects you with your best friend, for example a city map from your last holiday together? In principle, any paper is suitable as long as it simply looks pretty. Choose some paper as a base and cut it so that a strip of it wraps around the whole tin. Cut two strips of double-sided tape and stick them on edge next to each other on the can so that they cover it from the bottom to the top. Tape one end of the paper to one of the two strips of tape, run it around the can and attach the other end using the second strip of tape.
Then cut smaller strips of other types of paper and stick them to the can with double-sided tape however you like. Of course, they don’t have to be strips. You can use cutting dies to make all sorts of paper cut-outs and decorate your tin however you like.
Finally, you can tie two pieces of coloured wool around the tin.
Make a Photo Tag
Instructions
Then grab a third piece of the same wool and stick it to the back of a photo with Sellotape. The photo can be of you and your girlfriends, from a trip together or whatever it is that connects you and your best friend. Make sure you choose a photo that is not too big or use a smaller copy of a larger photo. The sturdy prints from an instant camera work particularly well. Knot the wool to a wooden handle.
Now all you have to do is place a Pink Kisses® carnation in your newly created tin flowerpot and insert the photo tag. Your very own individual friendship greeting is done!
