DIY Gift Idea: Mini Garden to Send As a Present

There is an old saying that a garden makes you happy for a lifetime. But you can’t give a garden as a gift, can you? Yes, you can! We’ll show you how to make a mini garden full of Pink Kisses® that you can even send in the post. A really creative gift for anyone in your life with a green thumb.

What You Need

List

  • A wooden box
  • Chicken wire
  • A pair of wire cutters
  • Binding wire
  • Pliers
  • Lobe moss
  • 3 Pink Kisses® carnations
  • Small birch slices
  • Miniature garden tools
  • String
  • Scissors
  • Old books or newspapers
  • Stamps and ink pads
  • Glue
  • Cardboard box for mailing
  • Ribbon
  • Wrapping paper
  • 3 wooden sticks to secure for transport
  • Hay
  • Dried flowers
  • Fresh Pink Kisses® blossoms
  • Greeting card

Lay Out the Mini Garden

Description

Stand the box upright in front of you. Now cut a piece of chicken wire to the size of a third of the box opening. At the end, the wire must be tall enough so that the Pink Kisses® don’t fall out of the box when you put them in. Attach the chicken wire to the box with binding wire and bend the ends of the wires so that there is no longer any danger of pricking your hands on them.

Then place the lobe moss behind the chicken wire in the box and put the Pink Kisses® inside so that the moss hides the flowerpots and the stems and flowers stick out on top.

Decorate the Mini Garden

Description

For real garden flair, you can add miniature birch slices to the Pink Kisses® and clip miniature garden tools into the chicken wire.

Then attach a piece of string to the inside of the back of the box so that it hangs above the Pink Kisses® like a garland. Then grab some old books or newspapers and cut out diamonds from the paper. The easiest way to do this is to fold the pages and cut triangles, which you then unfold again. Decorate the diamonds with a matching stamp motif on one side and apply glue to the other. Now fold the diamonds in half over the string in the box so that they hang like flags on the string. Make sure that your stamp motif is clearly visible.

Packaging the Mini Garden

Description

Now your mini garden is ready. Such a lovely gift should be packaged appropriately. Get a large enough box to send the mini garden in. Put a ribbon and enough wrapping paper in the box to wrap the mini garden. Stabilise the Pink Kisses® in the box with wooden sticks so they don’t fall out during transport, then place the box on top of the wrapping paper and ribbon in the box. Now it’s easy to wrap the mini garden and pull everything tight with the ribbon.

For padding, you can spread hay around the wrapped mini garden. To add the finishing touch to your gift, sprinkle some fresh Pink Kisses® flowers and other dried flowers, such as strawflowers, and add a greeting card.
